Man, what a genius. That fabric in the 1st 2 shots is just breathtaking. Did he design the prints too, or did he just do structure-work?

I'm pretty sure McQueen had a hand in the production of all of his fabrics. I read on Style.com that for this collection he "ordered fabric that translated digital photographs of paintings of high-church angels and Bosch demons into hand-loomed jacquards."

So, the digital print is actually WOVEN into the fabric, not printed onto it like a t-shirt would be. I love that he was using new technology to enhance his incredible draping. The digital prints used in his last few collections were just incredible.

And a master of draping, too! I love this little anecdote Cathy Horyn wrote about in the New York Times:

Mr. Treacy, who has contributed many of his hats to McQueen shows over the years, said he last saw the designer two weeks ago in his studio in London. Mr. McQueen was working on his fall collection,—imagine a skylight studio, assistants on one side of the room, bolts of fabric everywhere and sketches papering the opposite wall. Mr. Treacy recalled the scene. “He was making this dress on the model with one piece of material. With some pins he made this exquisite dress out of one flat piece of material, with drapes around the front and this tight bodice. I said to him, ‘Did you just do that?’ And he said, ‘What?’ ” Mr. Treacy laughed.

It just makes me smile.
